Max is a year old
Max turned one year old on September 29, 2009.
He had a great time at his birthday party although he wasn't thrilled with the idea of smashing his cake. He didn't end up eating any cake, he just licked the icing once. He has started taking some steps and can stand unassisted for a long period of time.
At his doctor's appointment, she said that he looked great. He is currently 20.5lbs and 29.5 inches which keeps him at 10% for weight and 25% for height...still on the same track as he has always been on.

Quick Update
Just a quick update since it has been awhile. Elliot started school last week and so far so good. He is doing really well with leaving me and really loves his teacher and his new class. I thought he would have a difficult time knowing that I was across the hall but so far he is doing a fantastic job. He comes home singing songs everyday and telling me the things that he has learned. It is hard to get a picture of Elliot now because he refuses to look at the camera.
Max is having a rough time with his teeth coming in. He has a cold plus his top tooth is super close and the other one is right behind. He took a few steps by himself the other day and is standing on his own more and more. It is hard to believe that he will be one in a few short days.

Cape May--August 2009
It was another successful vacation to Cape May again this year. This time we had 6 kids all 4 years and under and they did a fabulous job. Elliot always loves the beach but Max, who likes being at home, did a great job as well and had a blast. We hit our usual spots and did our normal traditions--feeding the seagulls, Ocean City boardwalk, big spaghetti dinner (no pics of that :-(
Can't wait to do it again next year.

A tooth
Max got his first tooth on July 14, 2009. He got his bottom left tooth and has been pretty miserable...not sure if his 26 days of diarrhea had anything to do with the tooth but let's hope not for future teeth.

4th of July
We had a great 4th of July weekend. Elliot and Dad went to the parade on Saturday morning (not sure if dad took any pics). After nap time we went to Aunt Pat's for a BBQ and hung out with everyone. That night Mom took Elliot to his first fireworks ever. He did a great job and liked them a lot (not scared one bit) but he was tired before they were over and asked to go home. We heard the finale on our way home, instead of seeing it. Maybe next year, he'll make it through the whole show.
Max Turns 9 months
Max is doing pretty well. We went to his 9 month check up. He now weighs 18.8lbs and is 27.5 inches long. He is still 25% for both height and weight. He is still on zantac because his reflux is still pretty bad. The doctor found a murmur when listening to his heart so we have to see a cardiologist to just make sure that it is an "innocent" murmur and nothing more serious. The appointment is set for July 20th. Other than that, he is doing really well
Beach Trip #1
As Elliot would like to say "I am a very lucky boy!" He gets to go down the shore two times this year, for a week each. Our first trip was to Cape May Point with Gram, Aunt Maggie, Uncle Paul, Aunt Kate, John and Jeannie. Elliot had a blast. He LOVED the water and went surfing with dad, climbed all 199 steps to the lighthouse, went to the zoo, played really well with John and just had a great trip. Max did surprisingly well for his first time to the beach and sleeping away from home. He loved the beach as long as the wind wasn't blowing and really liked sucking the salt water off rocks and buckets. While away he learned to go from laying to sitting and how to clap. We saw a tooth but after coming home, it went back up.

Lamb "Graduation"
Elliot graduated from his Lamb class on May 28, 2009 and mom and dad were super proud of him. Out of his class of 12, he was the ONLY kid to sing all the songs. He did such a fantastic job. He will have the summer off and then return to school 3 days a week as a bunny, next year. He loved school and his teachers. Right now I'm not sure that he gets the fact that he won't be back to school for awhile and when he goes next year, he'll have new teachers. We'll cross that bridge when it comes.

Elliot's 3 year stats
I feel horrible that I never updated Elliot's 3 year stats and it is too late to go back and put them where they belong in the blog so I will put them here--sorry El.
At 3 he was 26.5 lbs and 36 inches tall. He is still 10% for weight and 25% for height. The doctor said he was doing great and looked great. He did not enjoy the shot that neither of us were expecting. Some time soon I am going to get his hearing checked...I'm not sure if it is just a kid thing, but he misunderstands a lot of words that I say and I don't want to wait until 4 to get it checked.

A trip down south
At the end of April, Elliot and I (plus Gram and Aunt Mag), got on a plane and flew to North Carolina to visit Kate, Paul, John and Jeannie. Elliot was fascinated by the whole air port/airplane experience and did a fantastic job. We had an absolute blast visiting and by the end he wanted to stay for a "long time" even though he missed daddy and Maxie. It was nice to spend so much time with just the two of us and also to see how he and John got along so well. We can't wait to do it all again in June but this time at the beach (with Daddy and Max!)
